A musical intervention apparatus developed from Institute studies of naturally occurring funk expression. Longitudinal subject observations identified measurable changes in rhythmic character over time, which were subsequently quantified and adapted for electronic application to amplified musical performance.
Working prototype. Field documentation in progress.

A reminder from the Office of Adverse Outcome Prevention
Do Not Enter the Denatured Wing
The Denatured Wing is under quarantine for a reason.
The hazards of the Denatured Wing are not confined to its interior. Removing an object does not make it safe. It merely relocates the hazard.
Despite posted warnings, a member of staff recently entered the area and removed a notebook from an off-limits laboratory. The notebook contains several hundred pages of unidentified material. Its purpose remains unknown.
The staff member claims the notebook called out to him.
The notebook isn't talking.
Recovered material / Project Lacuna notebook — condition upon receipt
Please do not remove objects from the Denatured Wing.
If an object has already been removed, do not listen to it. Turn both the object and yourself over to the Office of Adverse Outcome Prevention immediately.

Classification
Uncatalogued material removed without authorization.
Status
Not to be interpreted.
From the field
Documentation remains part of the work.
This should not require repeating, but apparently it does. Test subjects, laboratory
conditions, apparatus configurations and resulting observations are to be documented
completely and legibly. “We all remember what happened” is not an archival standard.
We’re looking at you, team Applied Notations!
Our mission
Questionable necessity.
Glorious execution.
"Begin with a premise that probably does not require investigation. Then proceed with considerably more engineering, documentation and attention than the premise warrants."
